Lake Harris, also written Harris Lake, is a 275-acre lake in the town of Newcomb, Essex County, New York, inside the Adirondack Park. It lies northeast of Newcomb hamlet and empties into the Hudson River near the river's beginning, just above the Hudson Gorge. Lake Harris Campground, run by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, sits on the shore from mid-May through early September; rowboats and canoes can be rented there, the lake holds walleye, northern pike, bass and yellow perch, and trails into the Santanoni Preserve, the Vanderwhacker Wild Forest and the High Peaks Wilderness are nearby. A monument east of the campground marks Theodore Roosevelt's midnight ride after President McKinley was shot.
