Long Lake is a 14-mile-long, 4,077-acre lake in the town of Long Lake in Hamilton County, in the Adirondacks. It is a widening of the Raquette River, averaging half a mile across, and NY 30 crosses it at a narrow point four miles from the south end, where the hamlet of Long Lake sits. More than half of the shoreline lies within the New York State Forest Preserve, the northern end is undeveloped, and the lake has two public beaches and a state boat launch. Settled by the 1830s by hunting guides and boat builders, it was part of a 19th-century guideboat route and today is a link in the 740-mile Northern Forest Canoe Trail.
