Mirror Lake sits in the center of the village of Lake Placid, in the town of North Elba in Essex County, in the Adirondack Mountains of northern New York. The lake covers roughly 122 to 124 acres at a surface elevation of 1,854 feet, with an average depth of 14 feet. Motorboats and snowmobiles are not allowed; in summer the lake is used for canoeing, kayaking, swimming and stand-up paddleboarding, and the swim portion of the Lake Placid IRONMAN takes place here. In winter a skating track is maintained around its perimeter.
