Houston Barnard

The Houston Barnard Tract is a neighborhood in the town of Brighton, Monroe County, just north of Twelve Corners and bordering the city of Rochester. It is encircled by East Avenue, Clover Street, Elmwood Avenue, South Winton Road, Highland Avenue and Interstate 590, and its northernmost portion is known as the Houston Barnard Subdivision. The tract takes its name from Houston Barnard, a local developer who built in Rochester, Brighton and Pittsford in the 1920s and 1930s and favored the Tudor Revival style, especially its Cotswold Cottage variant. Brighton itself was formally established in 1814 and had a population of 37,137 at the 2020 census.
