Roselawn

Roselawn is a neighborhood in the town of Brighton, Monroe County, New York, on 135 acres of former brickyards near Cobbs Hill that were platted in 1919 as one of the first post-World War I automobile suburbs. By local legend the tract was named Rose Lawn because its subdivision map resembled a rose, and the spelling became Roselawn in the late 1940s. Today it forms a triangle bounded by Elmwood Avenue, Sylvan Road and Monroe and Hollywood Avenues, with Brighton Town Hall to the south. The developers set aside small triangular "rosebuds" as parks, the largest of which became Rose Park in 1927.
