Cobbs Hill

Cobbs Hill is a 109-acre city park on the east side of Rochester, New York, part of the Olmsted park system and named for Edna Cobb, who once owned the land. The city bought the hilltop in 1904 for a reservoir, completed in 1908, and George Eastman gave the 15 acres crowning the hill for park use. A 0.7-mile paved loop circles the reservoir, which still supplies Rochester's drinking water from Hemlock Lake, and Washington Grove, a 26-acre old-growth oak-hickory forest, lies within the park along with Lake Riley, a remnant of the old Erie Canal. In September 2025 the City Council designated the park and grove a historic preservation district.
