North Buffalo is one of the five main areas of the city of Buffalo, New York, a cluster of neighborhoods that includes Central Park, North Park, Parkside, Park Meadow and University Heights. It runs from the city line at Kenmore south to Delaware Park, between Elmwood Avenue on the west and Main Street on the east, over flat ground where Cornelius Creek once flowed along the line of Hertel Avenue before it was buried. The Hertel Avenue business strip, with its Italian restaurants, bakeries and stores, is known locally as Little Italy and has hosted the Italian Heritage Festival since 1988, and from the 1950s to the late 1970s the area was the center of Buffalo's Jewish community. Much of the housing dates from the 1920s, and the North Park Theatre and the Buffalo Zoo are among its landmarks.
