Canadice

from $54

Canadice Lake is the smallest of the Finger Lakes, lying in the town of Canadice in Ontario County about 30 miles south of Rochester. Its name comes from the Seneca word ska-ne-a-dice, meaning long lake, and it drains through Canadice Outlet into the Genesee River watershed alongside neighboring Hemlock Lake. The lake is three miles long, 649 acres in surface area and up to 95 feet deep. It has supplied drinking water to the city of Rochester since 1919, and most of its shoreline is part of the Hemlock-Canadice State Forest, with no houses on the shore and boats limited to 17 feet and 10 horsepower.
