
Brighton is a town in Monroe County, New York, on the southeastern border of the city of Rochester, with a population of 37,137 at the 2020 census. Formally established in 1814 and named for Brighton, England, it remained a farming and brick-making community until the 20th century. Its commercial hub is Twelve Corners, where Winton Road, Monroe Avenue and Elmwood Avenue meet, and the Erie Canal courses through the town alongside the Erie Canal Heritage Trail.
