Pittsford Paddle is one of the Pittsford designs in this line; the lettering names the town rather than a single street or neighborhood. Pittsford was settled in 1789, incorporated in 1796, and named by Colonel Caleb Hopkins for Pittsford, Vermont; the Erie Canal passes through the town, and the village of Pittsford was incorporated in 1827. Pittsford is home to five country clubs, Oak Hill Country Club, Irondequoit Country Club, Monroe Golf Club, the Country Club of Rochester and Locust Hill Country Club, and has 11 town parks. The Tennis Club of Rochester, at 570 Kreag Road in Pittsford, has four paddle (platform tennis) courts and a paddle hut; its in-house paddle leagues begin in October, with play running from early October through the end of April.
