Pittsford
Pittsford is a town in Monroe County, New York, about seven miles southeast of Rochester, with a population of 30,617 at the 2020 census. Settled in 1789 and incorporated in 1796, it was named by Colonel Caleb Hopkins for his birthplace of Pittsford, Vermont, and its village was incorporated in 1827. The Erie Canal runs through the town, and the village sits at its center on Main Street and State Street. Pittsford maintains 11 town parks, including Lock 32 on the canal, and its 1996 Greenprint Plan preserved two-thirds of the town's remaining farmland by purchasing development rights.
