Pittsford Sutherland High School, a public high school in the Pittsford Central School District serving grades 9-12, is located at 55 Sutherland Street; it opened in 1957, enrolled 927 students in 2019-20, and its colors are navy blue and gold with the Knights as mascot. Allen Creek, Jefferson Road and the northern part of Mendon Center elementary schools feed into Calkins Road Middle School and then into Pittsford Sutherland High School. The village of Pittsford, an Erie Canal community in the town of Pittsford and a suburb of Rochester, had a population of 1,419 at the 2020 census; it is named after Pittsford, Vermont, and was incorporated on July 4, 1827, making it the oldest of Monroe County's ten incorporated villages.
