Monroe Ave
Monroe Avenue is the name New York State Route 31 carries from the Inner Loop at the edge of downtown Rochester, where Chestnut Street becomes Monroe Avenue, southeast through the city and the town of Brighton to Pittsford. Leaving downtown, it meets Interstate 490 at exit 18, passes Cobbs Hill Park, and crosses into Brighton, where it runs through Twelve Corners. The stretch between Interstate 590 and Clover Street in Brighton is the busiest segment of the entire 208-mile route, carrying more than 40,000 vehicles a day as of 2009. Monroe Village and Upper Monroe are among the 35 neighborhoods recognized by the city's Celebrate City Living program.
