Twelve Corners
Twelve Corners is one of the named neighborhoods of Brighton, Monroe County, New York. The Twelve Corners is the central commercial and entertainment hub of the town of Brighton, Monroe County, New York, so named because three intersecting roads, Winton Road, Monroe Avenue and Elmwood Avenue, define twelve distinct corners. Brighton has lacked a central village since the city of Rochester annexed the area around East Avenue and Winton Road, the former village of Brighton, in 1905. Brighton High School and Twelve Corners Middle School are located at the Twelve Corners; the middle school received the 'Schools to Watch' designation in 2006 and was recertified in 2009, 2012, 2015 and 2018. Brighton, on the southeastern border of Rochester, was formally established as a town in 1814, is named for Brighton, England, and had a population of 37,137 at the 2020 census.
