West Seneca
West Seneca is a town in the interior of Erie County, New York, a suburb of Buffalo with a population of 45,500 at the 2020 census, and with Orchard Park and Hamburg one of the inner Southtowns. Its land was part of the Buffalo Creek Reservation and stayed closed to European settlement until the mid-1800s; the town was formed as Seneca in 1851 and took the name West Seneca a year later, while its central hamlet of Ebenezer recalls the German Ebenezer Society that settled there around 1843. Buffalo Creek, the stream that gave the city of Buffalo its name, flows west through the town past the 29-acre Charles E. Burchfield Nature & Art Center, and Schwabl's restaurant has served beef on weck in West Seneca since 1837.
